Karl A. Rohde Family

Karl A. Rohde, son of Michael Rohde and Catherine Masthke, married Louisa Wilhelmine Liedtke on December 17, 1868 in Geneseo, Henry, Illinois. After the death of his father and mother in 1870 and 1872, respectively, and the loss of two children, the Karl left Illinois with his wife, son Carl, and his youngest sister Therese Julia Anna Rohde, and moved to Hampton, Nebraska where the couple’s daughter Carolina was born in 1873 followed by seven more children. Shown in this picture are: (standing in the back row from the left) Carolina, Herman, Henry and Carl (standing in the middle from the left) Theodore, Fred and Ernst (seated from left) Emilie, Marie and mother Louisa. Mr. Karl A. Rohde has died in October, 1895. Some of the members of this family changed their surname from Rohde to Rhode and the name may be found with either spelling in various Hamilton County census records and vital statistics.
